Piano Student Policy 2023-2024

♪ LESSONS

Piano lessons are for 30 minutes, once a week. Lessons are offered all year ‘round, however, our tuition-based lessons are from Sept 1st – May 31st.

 ♪ PAYMENT OPTIONS

Cash, Check, Venmo, Cash App, and Paypal are accepted.

**if using PayPal, please add $3 to the tuition towards the fee.

♪ TUITION - $100/ a month (for in-studio lessons)

-When is it due? - the first lesson of the month (a $10 late fee will be added after the 15th of the month)

-How is the tuition calculated? – payment for the lessons is tuition based for 9 months. That price is divided into monthly payments. Piano lessons are charged like a dance studio, or a sport....you pay for your spot, no make-ups for missed lessons.

-What happens if there are only 3 lessons in a month? – it’s the same as if there are 4 or 5, always $100 a month.

-What happens if I miss a lesson?  Because of the fullness of the schedule, there will be no makeup lessons.  However – there will be 1 make-up day set aside each semester, should you choose to schedule a lesson on that day.

- What happens if the teacher cancels a lesson? In the event I need to cancel a lesson, your next month’s tuition price will show that adjustment.

 ♪ BOOKS AND MATERIALS

You are responsible to pay for your students’ music books. I will send you a link to order your student’s books when they are needed. However, if you need me to order for you, I will do so, but reimbursement must be made upon receiving the books.

 ♪ MISSED LESSONS

Because my teaching schedule is full, make-up lessons are not possible. Availability only occurs when another student has canceled, leaving an open lesson time in the schedule.

♪ HOLIDAYS

The studio closes during some, but not all holidays. Important dates will be posted on the studio calendar and found My Music Staff. Holidays are already factored into the calendar year and tuition structure; therefore, rescheduling is not necessary.

 ♪ PRACTICE

Regular home practice is essential for student success. Ideally, a student should aim for at least 5 days of practice each week. Short daily practice is more effective than 1 or 2 long sessions a week.

 ♪ EXPECTATIONS AT THE LESSON

Students are expected to arrive on time and with all their materials/music.  It is preferred that parents and siblings may wait outside during the lesson.

If you would like to discuss your student's progress, please talk with me at the beginning of your student’s lesson to respect the next student’s time slot.

♪ SUMMER

For best results, a student's musical education should continue throughout the entire year. Many students choose to take lessons all summer and greatly benefit from having extra time with their instrument when they don’t have school obligations. Summer lessons are scheduled in late spring.

If you choose to take the summer off, your spot is not guaranteed for the following fall.

♪ DISCONTINUING LESSONS

Monthly students must give 30-day notice to discontinue lessons. If you do not give 30-day notice, you are expected to pay for the following month.

When you choose to take piano lessons, you’re choosing to learn a skill that will benefit you and bring you joy your entire life. Students enrolled in lessons are offered a well-rounded program of instruction, theory, ear training, technique and performance opportunities. I will tailor the curriculum to match the students specific learning needs and interests.
